After suffering a four-game losing streak, Wisconsin basketball has given the Indiana Hoosiers their first win in quite some time.
The Wisconsin basketball team struggled to ever maintain a lead against the Hoosiers after falling behind by 15-points for a long stretch. Wisconsin allowed far too many easy buckets for the Hoosiers and could not find a way to stop the 7-foot center Kel’el Ware as he dropped a double-double on the Badgers. The Badgers will now have to go back to the drawing board as they attempt to recover the next game.
Wisconsin Basketball Drops Important Game Against Scuffling Indiana Hoosiers Squad
After a tough game against the Hoosiers, Wisconsin basketball has now dropped their fifth-straight road contest setting an unfortunate mark for the season. Wisconsin started off the season hot, but has since cooled off and had difficulties finding wins on the road against their opponents. The Badgers now drop to 10-7 in the Big Ten Conference after starting 8-1 in conference play.
Everything that could have gone wrong for Wisconsin basketball did go wrong against the Hoosiers as the Badgers never quite found their stride. The Badgers trailed by 15-points at one point in the contest, but were able to bring the game back to a three-point lead in their favor. However, the Badgers failed to score in the final two minutes of play against Indiana and ultimately fell short in their attempted comeback.
Indiana had previously been on a four-game losing streak before coming into the game against Wisconsin.
Hoosiers Kel’el Ware Proved to Be Too Much for the Wisconsin Basketball Team
If there was one person to highlight on either team in this game, it is certainly the 7-foot tall Indiana center Kel’el Ware. Ware is averaging 15.1 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game while shooting 57% from the field. The powerful center has been a dominant force for the Hoosiers, and against the Badgers, Wisconsin simply had no answer for the big man.
Ware went off for 27 points and 11 rebounds against Wisconsin while adding five blocks to his stat line. On top of this, Ware shot 91.7% from the field against Wisconsin basketball and was virtually lights out no matter who was guarding the center. In the end, Ware was really the difference for the Hoosiers as he kept them in the game against the Badgers.
What is Next for the Wisconsin Badgers Basketball Team Following a Tough Loss?
There is no doubt that a loss to the Hoosiers was not in the plans for the Wisconsin basketball team and Head Coach Greg Gard. Certainly, this loss could become a big setback for the Badgers and now the losses are slowly bringing back memories to last season when Wisconsin imploded down the final stretch. The Badgers will have to face #13 Illinois, Rutgers, and #2 Purdue to finish off their regular season with a serious need for wins in place.
Wisconsin basketball certainly has a tough trio for their final regular season opponents, and with the team desperately needing a win, these games could become seriously intense.
