The Milwaukee Milkmen Maintain a 6 ½ game lead
Are you heading to tonight’s all-star game? Click here for more information.
The Milwaukee Milkmen are in first place and are 35-22. This team is playing really good baseball. While the team is 9 out of 12 in terms of home runs (49 total team home runs) they are 3rd in the league in terms of runs scored (333) and lead the league in stolen bases (over 131). This team can generate offense; it is just that offense is generally not generated via the long ball.
It is the pitching and defense that has made all the difference for this team.
The Milkmen have given up the least amount of earned runs (222) and the least amount of runs scored against them (242). That is 150 run difference vs the worst or 12th best team in the American Association of Professional baseball.

The Milkmen continue their season Thursday at home against Winnipeg. Thursday is $1 beer night. Winnipeg is in last place in the West division. (The Milkmen are in first place in the East division.)

The attendance could always be better
Right now the Milkmen average 1,596 fans a game. That puts them 8th out of 12 teams in the American Association of professional baseball.
With the American Association of Professional baseball home run derby having wrapped up and the all-star game taking place at Franklin field, the franchise expects a natural attendance boost from increased interest and great Wisconsin weather.
Individual Player Updates
The Milkmen have a ton of all-stars. It is what you would expect from a first-place team.
Some of those names are having great seasons. Catcher Roy Morales (.328 avg) and second baseman Bryan Torres (who leads the league in batting average with a .355 avg) are having dynamic hitting years. Cam Baego and Gabriel Cancel are reserves. (Baego participated in the home run derby.)
The Milkmen have a ton of pitchers playing in the all-star game. Frankie Bartow, Gregori Vasquez, Christian Young (6 wins) and Ryan Zimmerman (6 wins) were all named as all-stars. Zimmerman has started nine games for Milwaukee, pitching 60+ total innings. He has a 3.52 ERA. Young recently had a nice write up in the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. He is second in the American Association of professional baseball with a 2.73 ERA
Pitcher Gregori Vasquez (from Brooklyn, New York) is leading the league with a 2.46 ERA.
The Milkmen are a team that steals a ton of bases. Infielder Bryan Torres leads the league and team with 41 stolen bases. Teammate Reggie Pruit Jr. is also a dynamic base stealer. He currently is 5th in the AA in stolen bases. (He has 26)
Michael Crouse is also back. He has strong connections to Canadian baseball, having played for Team Canada.Crouse played 7 years in both the Blue Jays and Yankees affiliate system.
That seems to be a typical profile for this Milkmen roster: lots of AA, A, and lower level MLB minor league experience.
Infielder Drew Ward is also having a good year. He averages .272 and has one of the best eyes in the game. He has drawn 33 walks.

More Milkmen News
The Milkmen continue to play good baseball and offer up a great family-friendly experience. Last year was a good year for the Milkmen. However they were not 2022 playoff champions last season in the American Association of Professional Baseball. One would think that would be the goal for this year. Last year’s playoff champs were the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks.
The Milkmen are located at 7035 S Ballpark Drive in Franklin, WI. Five game “mini-packages” are now available via their website
