The Green Bay Packers off-season is far from over, but the blueprint of what the 2024 team will look like is nearly complete. Jordan Love and Josh Jacobs will be the face of the offense while Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs will be given the freedom to take yet another jump forward. The Green Bay Packers defensive vision is complete in the sense that it’s incomplete; obviously, Xavier McKinney and Jaire Alexander will hold things down, but the rest of the defense will go through an experimental trial by fire.
One area that’s still bleary and in limbo is the offensive line. Some linemen are guaranteed to be starters next year, some will fight for a role. Some spots are still void and will be filled by someone who isn’t even on the team yet. Here’s how the unit should look, and how good it could be by the end of the season.
LT Amarius Mims (Yes Green Bay Packers Fans, This Might Be Wishful Thinking)
Okay, this is a mix between speculation and wishful thinking. Will the Packers draft Amarius Mims? If he falls, they could, should, and probably would. They will almost certainly draft an OT at the 25th overall pick, and if Mims is there, it would be hard to see the Green Bay Packers not take him.
With that being said, there are a lot of teams needing offensive line help, and most offensive linemen taken in the first round tend to be tackles. The Steelers, Texans, and Bengals would all be stupid not to take Mims if he falls to them. But if they don’t pick him? He’s tall, strong, athletic, and great in space. He’s got good pass and run-blocking technique. There’s not too much to complain about here.
If Mims doesn’t fall to Green Bay, the Left Tackle position will almost undoubtedly be whoever the Packers decide to take in the first round.
LG Elgton Jenkins
While Jenkins has been very solid and formidable when healthy, that’s the issue: he has struggled with injuries in the past. He’s stayed on the injury list though over the past 2 seasons for the most part, so for the time being, he will be the projected starting LG for the Pack in 2024.
C Josh Myers
Not all Packers fans have been in love with the 2020 draft steal, but there’s no denying he’s a solid piece in the middle of the offensive line. He’s a jack-of-all-trades who isn’t as dominant as a Jason Kelce or Tyler Linderbaum, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t important for Jordan Love’s success. PFF had him ranked 19th of 38 centers last season, and that is a pretty fair ranking all things considered.
RG Mid-Round Selection
The Packers don’t have an obvious starting RG heading into the 2024 season. They tried multiple players out last year, experimented with a rotation, and just couldn’t get anything going consistently. That’s why, for this list, they’ll probably stick with a rotation involving one or multiple mid-round interior linemen.
RT Rasheed Walker
The same things said about Myers could be said about Walker. He’s about league average and is seen that way by many programs such as PFF and ESPN. He could play even better if the Packers get an elite tackle (such as Mims) in the draft, as he could be rotated and moved around to avoid playing the top-tier right-side pass rushers such as TJ Watt or the NFC North’s very own Aiden Hutchinson.
