The Milkmen continue to play host to All-Star players from all of the twelve of the professional clubs in the American Association of Professional Baseball. Tickets are still available for their in-season all-star game at Franklin Field on Tuesday. (The kid-friendly autograph signings before the game were truly an awesome experience!)
The Milkmen are now 6 ½ games in first place. They have been able to have success with “old school baseball”- good pitching, hitting and defense.
Milwaukee really was a great host for Monday Night’s Home Run derby. The contest featured 8 of the American Association of professional baseball’s top home run hitters including Milwaukee’s own Cam Balego.
Home Run Derby Winner
Zach Nehir of the Cleburne Railroaders won the home run derby at Franklin field. Nehir played for the Milkmen previously. He faced off in the championship against Conor Panas. Panas belted out 14 long balls; Nehir hit 15. It was an exciting, action-packed affair that had kids run from side to side as Nehir, a righty, would pull the ball out to left while Panas, a lefty, would pull the ball out to right.
Again, it was great a contest. No player hit fewer than five long balls and all told, the eight participants must have blast more than 100 homer runs out into the “pastures”
Chris Herrmann also had some really impressive performances. The lefty would crank ball after hard hit ball out into the stands. He is currently third in the league with 15 home runs.
As of 7.17.23 American Association of Professional Baseball Home Run Leaders.
1- Jose Sermo 17 Home Runs
2- Max Murphy 16 Home Runs
3- Josh Altmann 15 Home Runs
4- Chris Hermann 15 Home Runs
5- Nick Anderson 15 Home Runs
6- Hill Alexander 14 Home Runs
Tuesday July 18th- All-Star Game Time
The Milkmen have a ton of guys in the all-star game. Catcher Roy Morales, second baseman Bryan Torres (who leads the league in batting average). Cam Baego and Gabriel Cancel and reserves. The Milkmen have a ton of pitchers playing in the game. Frankie Bartow, Gregori Vasquez, Christian Young, and Ryan Zimmerman.
Like Haley’s Comet, it is Milwaukee’s turn to host the all star. So much has already happened and so much is planned. And one important thing about the American Association of Professional baseball is that unique elements of “Position less Baseball”.
You don’t have to watch too much American Association of Professional Baseball to realize that the athlete comes first, followed by the position. The same goes for the Milkmen. Cam Balego (listed on the roster as a catcher) plays third base. He will play catcher and then will be back at third base.

Last year’s playoff champs were the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks. The Milkmen did have a strong season and expect to be competitive again. The club prides itself on a great game day experience.
All-star time is here at Franklin field. The community, and you, should consider checking out the best the American Association of professional baseball has to offer at Franklin Field.
