The First Place Milwaukee Milkmen are in the “moooo” grove
The 24-15 Milkmen celebrated the weekend with fireworks, ‘Western Days’ and a pink out to help fight breast cancer and support breast cancer awareness. They also continue to win baseball games. After having attended again on Friday, I continue to be convinced that Milwaukee Milkmen games are one of the best family oriented, “adult-welcome”, best value for sports watching experiences in the entire state.
We talk about this a lot in this space but this team really has an identity as a fast base-stealing team that can pitch and defend.
For this team, every run they give up to an opponent feels like a struggle for them and every run the Milkmen scores feels ‘easy-breezy’.
Recent Game Recaps
On June 25th the Milkmen really put the hammer down on the Kane County Cougars, winning 13-6. Miguel Gomez was 4 of 5 with 2 RBI’s and 2 Runs. Leadoff hitter Bryan Torres was 2 for 5 with 2 RBI’s. First Baseman Drew Ward was a solid 1 for 3 with a walk and an important 2 RBI double. Ryan Zimmerman went five solid innings to earn the win.
On June 24th (Western Days) the Milkmen lost 7-1. Catcher Roy Morales was 2 of 4.
On Friday June 23rd the Milkmen lost a very back-n-forth contest with Kane County 5-3. Reggie Pruitt Jr. had an awesome triple in the loss. He also has 21 stolen bases on the season.
Christian Young leads the leagues in wins with 5. He is also third in the league with 49 strikeouts.
Cam Balego now leads the team in home runs with 6. The current American Association of professional baseball home run leader is Jose Sermo. He has 15 home runs and plays for the Cleburne Railroaders.
Bryan Torres still leads the team with a .343 batting average. Torres also leads the AA with 28 stolen bases. Teammate Reggie Pruitt Jr. has moved up to third in the league with 21 stolen bases. Teammate Aaron Hill also has 11 stolen bases so far on the season.
Gabriel Cancel is in the top 15 in the American Association of Professional baseball with nine doubles. In 148 AB’s he also has 42 hits. Teammate Drew Ward also has nine doubles. Ward’s averages continues to improve.
Bryan Torres is third in the league in runs scored.
On the defensive side, the Milkmen are second in team fielding percentage. They also are second best in terms of total team errors.
The Milkmen pitching staff has given up the least amount of earned runs so far (155). Good fielding and good pitching really has helped the Milkmen win any of the close games they have played.
Something to keep on your viewing radar is the ‘Christmas in July’ event on July 11th, sponsored in conjunction with 103.7 Kiss FM.
Also, keep an eye on the $9-15 combo value package. Along with your ticket you get a free hotdog and beverage choice (beer, soda, water). So many other great deals exist. Check them out here.
The Milkmen play at Franklin field at the Roc sports complex in Franklin. Take in some baseball after playing a round at the Luxe golf bays right next door.
