Trey Lance was in the spotlight for the San Franciso 49ers during the preseason on Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders. Lance played for the entire first half for San Francisco in a 34-7 loss against Vegas and there were not so many highlights for him.
There are times when stats are deceiving for a player, which was one of those instances. On his first three drives of the football game, the 49ers offense went three and out all three times. He only led one touchdown drive. Trey Lance completed 10-of-15 passes for 112 yards and one touchdown. The Raiders defender should have intercepted his one touchdown pass and it ended up in the hands of Ross Dwelley.
This pass by Trey Lance was….
1) Not intercepted
2) Not caught by #17 (Chris Conley)The TE Ross Dwelley somehow ends up with it for a TD.

Trey Lance was also sacked a few times in the first half and he didn’t seem to look comfortable in the San Francisco 49ers offense. As of right now, he is going to be the third quarterback on the depth chart once the season begins. Sam Darnold will be the backup quarterback and Brock Purdy will be the starting quarterback for head coach Kyle Shanahan.
Trey Lance Receives Criticism From Dan Orlvosky
Dan Orlvosky, an ESPN analyst on Get Up said about Trey Lance, “I don’t think Trey Lance can play in Kyle Shanahan’s offense. I’ve seen enough.” He had 3.42 seconds time to throw by average throughout the game against the Las Vegas Raiders. In Shanahan’s offense, that football needs to be out quicker than that.
Lance held onto the football for too long in this game despite having the main starters out for this football game. Dan Orlovsky feels that Trey Lance is more of a quarterback that needs to play under center than under shotgun.

Dan Orlvosky also mentioned in this clip that Trey Lance should have thrown two interceptions in this ball game. With Trey Lance holding the football for too long and not being a potential fit for the San Francisco 49ers, it makes you wonder how many more chances he will get and if he will get traded anytime soon or not.
