It’s now clear as to what Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes thinks about the hierarchy in the AFC, per a new video clip. The reigning MVP doesn’t respect the Buffalo Bills as much as he does the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Bills won their last meeting with the Chiefs last October. However, in their previous five matchups since Mahomes has been the starter in Kansas City, the Chiefs have a 3-2 record against the Bills. More importantly, Mahomes is 2-0 against the Bills in the playoffs, including a win in the 2020 AFC Championship game with a 38-24 final score.
NFL News: Patrick Mahomes isn’t scared of the Buffalo Bills
The Chiefs’ luck against the Cincinnati Bengals has been different in the AFC Championship round, and it appears Mahomes respects the Bengals more. The Bengals beat the Chiefs in the AFC Championship in the 2021 season.
A video of Mahomes talking about the Bills and Bengals is circulating social media from the Netflix documentary “Quarterback.” Mahomes was asked before the Bengals and Bills Divisional Round matchup this January who he’d rather the Chiefs play in the AFC Championship game. Mahomes thought the Bills would be an easier matchup for the Chiefs if they beat the Bengals:
“I mean, I think we match up better against the Bills, but I want to play the Bengals,” Mahomes said.

Mahomes said he thought the Bills had a good chance to win the game with their defensive line going up against an injured Bengals offensive line. The Bills would register just one sack of Joe Burrow in their 27-10 defeat by the Bengals at home in a snowy Buffalo.
The Bills can change the narrative this year
The repercussions of the Bills’ loss have only made their team look inferior to the Chiefs and Bengals this offseason. The Bills disrupted their defensive coaching staff, lost one of their best defenders, and have a reportedly disgruntled Stefon Diggs being asked to leave OTAs early. Bengals and Chiefs players have made headlines this offseason by trash-talking.
The Bills and Chiefs will play in Week 14 in Buffalo. Josh Allen and the Bills need to take Mahomes’ oversight as a slight in that matchup and prove they can be contenders in the AFC this year. Of the trio of AFC perennial NFL MVP candidates of Allen, Mahomes, and Burrow, only Allen hasn’t made the Super Bowl.
The Bills haven’t earned Mahomes’ respect yet.
