The Green Bay Packers will have the 25th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft when it takes place next Thursday in Detroit, Michigan. The final preparations for the 2024 NFL Draft are taking place. Green Bay will have needs of offensive line, defensive line, safety, cornerback, and running back.
The good news for the Packers is that they won’t need to draft a quarterback in the 2024 NFL Draft like a bunch of these other teams do. Green Bay will have 11 total selections in the 2024 NFL Draft unless they decide to trade a pick or two for other reasons.
There have been selections in the past that have mind-boggled this fanbase. What is something that the Green Bay Packers should not do in the 2024 NFL Draft?
The Green Bay Packers Should Not Draft a Wide Receiver With the 25th Overall Pick In the 2024 NFL Draft
There are plenty of talented wide receivers in the 2024 NFL Draft. There have been times where in NFL mock drafts that the Green Bay Packers have taken wide receivers. A couple of names that come to mind is Adonai Mitchell of Texas and Keon Coleman of Florida State.
There is no way that the Packers should draft a wide receiver in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. They already have a bunch of talented wide receivers on the roster and they are Dontayvion Wicks, Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, and Romeo Doubs. Green Bay does not need another wide receiver with that selection, because there will be plenty of defensive players available on the back end.
A player like Kool-Aid McKinstry from Alabama can very well be available for the Green Bay Packers 25th overall. He is a player at cornerback that would be able to start right away rather than taking one of the wide receivers. As long as they were to take a cornerback or an offensive lineman, that would be the way to go.
They do need to protect quarterback Jordan Love upfront because the offensive line struggled at various points a season ago. In the latest CBS Sports Mock Draft, Chris Trapasso has Green Bay taking Alabama offensive tackle JC Latham with the 25th overall pick, which would be a good move for the franchise. Also, the Green Bay Packers have one of the most talented wide receiver rooms in the NFL already and there is no need for general manager Brian Gutekunst to add to it.
