Joe Burrow is 3-1 against the Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Homes. But the Bengals’ loss to the Chiefs in January’s AFC Championship game appears to have quieted Burrow before his fourth NFL season.
Burrow lead the Bengals back from an 18-point deficit to the Chiefs to win the 2021 AFC Championship game 27-24. They followed that win by beating the Chiefs in their rematch in December by the same score.
However, the Chiefs would prevail in the AFC Championship game over the Bengals on their way to winning the Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles. Before the AFC Championship game, Bengals cornerback Mike Hilton called the Chiefs’ home turf “Burrowhead” instead of Arrowhead Stadium.
NFL News: Joe Burrow pleads the fifth on trash talk with Chiefs

The recent rivalry has been chippy this offseason since that game and Hilton’s comments. Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and Ja’Marr Chase have joined in on the trash-talking. Burrow doesn’t want anything to do with it before their next matchup.
According to Kameron Hay of Complex, Burrow said he wanted to settle the rivalry on New Year’s Eve:
“The best thing about that is it’s all settled on the field,” Burrow says. “So we’ll see them in December.”
Burrow needs to beat the Kansas City Chiefs again
There’s not much Burrow can say after the AFC championship defeat. He needs to use that as motivation to get past the Chiefs in the playoffs this season. While the Bengals won the 2021 AFC Championship game over the Chiefs, they failed to win the Super Bowl. The Chiefs won it this year.
Until Burrow and the Bengals win a Super Bowl or more playoff games against the Chiefs, they will be the little brother in this rivalry. Burrow knows it. That’s why he wants to finish it on the scoreboard instead of in an interview.
