The Green Bay Packers are one of the more intriguing teams coming into the 2024 season. The young Packers team went 7-3 in their final 10 games of the 2023 season, which included a massive win over the Dallas Cowboys in the playoffs.
That being said, it is hard to be more intriguing than the reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs have a chance to become the third team ever to win three championships in a row (The Packers did it from 1929-31 and again in 1965-67).
However, one free agent chose to play with Jordan Love over Patrick Mahomes for the 2024 season.
The Green Bay Packers Get Free Agent To Sign With Them Over The Kansas City Chiefs
Earlier this week, the Packers announced that they had signed free agent Andre Dillard to a contract.
There is a little bit of uncertainty on the Packers’ offensive line following the release of left tackle David Bakhtiari. The team has Rasheed Walker, Kadeem Teifort, Zach Tom, Luke Tenuta and Caleb Jones at tackle, so Dillard is likely to compete for a starting job.
In addition, a number of linemen could still be drafted next week by the Packers – and probably will be.
In his career, Dillard has mostly played left tackle, but he also has experience at right tackle. Over the course of his career, he has played in 59 games with 19 starts, including 10 games at left tackle for the Titans in 2023, which was a career-high.
However, news surfaced after the signing that Dillard had just recently visited the Kansas City Chiefs. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler:
Packers sign offensive tackle Andre Dillard. Former first-round pick played last season with the Titans.
Before signing with Green Bay, Dillard took a free agent visit to the Chiefs, per source. Kansas City needs tackle help, which it could find in the draft.
Jordan Love And Patrick Mahomes Will Be Exciting To Watch In 2024
Obviously Patrick Mahomes will be one of the most exciting quarterbacks to watch in the NFL for years to come. Packers fans are hoping that Jordan Love will be in the same category one day.
Zach Kruse of PackersWire broke down Love’s stats from his first full season as a starter:

Either way, having a free agent choose to sign with your team over the reigning back-to-back Super Bowl champions says a lot about the direction this team is going.
