NFL News: Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets have high expectations going into the 2023 NFL season. It took nearly six weeks (after Aaron Rodgers declared his intent), but the Green Bay Packers and New York Jets finally came to an agreement days prior to the 2023 NFL Draft. The Jets have signed an incredible amount of former Green Bay Packers this off-season, the latest being Safety Adrian Amos. A new report explains why that signing likely happened.
NFL News: Aaron Rodgers’ Teammate, Chuck Clark, Suffers “Brutal Knee Injury”
Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reported his week night that the New York Jets believe starting safety Chuck Clark has suffered a serious knee injury. The team is waiting on an official ruling and Chuck Clark is reportedly seeking a second opinion, but the outcome certainly does not look good. Clark was expected to start and play a key role in the team’s defense this season.
The Baltimore Ravens selected Clark in the sixth round with the 186th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Clark was the 17th safety drafted in 2017. In his six seasons in the NFL, Clark has recorded 384 total tackles, 3.5 sacks, and 5 interceptions. His best years came in 2021 and 2022 where he combined for 181 tackles, two interceptions, and one pick-six.
This Explains The Adrian Amos Signing (NFL News)
Adrian Amos signed a one-year $4 million deal with the New York Jets earlier this week. The Green Bay Packers certainly could have afforded to pay Amos $4 million for the 2023 season. They currently have over $16 million in cap space and have signed all their draft picks.
Amos was recently coming off a visit with the Ravens and the Jets did not show much interest until recently. The Jets offered a starting role in the secondary that Baltimore simply could not.
