The NBA trade deadline is fast approaching, which is why it comes as no surprise that the rumors are getting louder. The Milwaukee Bucks are not immune from these circulating reports, which apparently, could have some significant basis.
Apparently, the Bucks front office is currently active in the market as they look to fortify their squad for the rest of the campaign.
Milwaukee Bucks’ Defensive Woes
It’s no secret that defense has been the biggest issue the Bucks have to resolve. Milwaukee’s defense hasn’t really recovered yet since they sent Jrue Holiday packing this summer and by the looks of it, their current roster makeup does not have the necessary tools to elevate the team’s level of defense.
This is exactly why the Bucks are looking to shore up their lineup ahead of the trade deadline, particularly on the defensive side of the ball. NBA guru Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report recently indicated that Milwaukee has been “very aggressive in surveying the market” (h/t Van Fayaz of Brew Hoop).
Alex Caruso Headlines Trio of Rumored Trade Targets
Haynes also mentioned a trio of names that he linked with the Bucks.
Headlining the list is Chicago Bulls combo guard Alex Caruso. This is far from the first time the 29-year-old has been rumored to be a trade target for Milwaukee. Caruso is one of the top two-way guards in the NBA right now, and he would be an excellent addition to the Bucks. The question, however, is whether or not Milwaukee will have enough assets to make a play if the Bulls make him available.
The other two players Haynes mentioned were Dorian Finney-Smith of the Brooklyn Nets and Matisse Tyhbulle of the Portland Trail Blazers. Neither player is at the same level as Caruso in terms of popularity, but there’s no denying that their defensive wing presence would be a significant upgrade for the Bucks as well.
Whatever the case might be, it seems that Milwaukee won’t let the trade deadline pass without their own move.
