The Milwaukee Bucks’ roster heading into the playoffs is a formidable one made even better by the hiring of Doc Rivers as head coach. But as the trade deadline approaches, Pat Connaughton may be the player most likely moved by then.
As it stands, the Bucks’ roster right now is sufficient to contend for a championship. There’s the duo of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard handling the team’s offense. The presence of Khris Middleton adds another weapon on the wing and gives Milwaukee a reliable option there.

There are also proven veterans who bring something unique to the table for the Bucks. These include Brook Lopez, Jae Crowder, and Bobby Portis, among others. Taking all of these guys together and having them play under an experienced head coach like Doc Rivers will result in something stellar down the road.
But, of course, there’s still some room for the Bucks to improve before the postseason commences. This is where the trade deadline and Connaughton comes in,
Milwaukee Bucks Likely to Trade Pat Connaughton at the Deadline

As compared to most players on the Bucks’ roster, Connaughton’s role with the team can be readily replaced. This detail merges with the franchise’s situation of having no valuable assets to trade and a tax bill waiting to be resolved.
In an article by Brian Windhorst for ESPN:
“Bucks general manager Jon Horst has made deadline deals in four of the past five years. But the Bucks have no tradable first-rounders, no trade exceptions, no roster spots and a $58 million tax bill.
They’re probably going to have to stand pat, but if they get aggressive it will probably need to involve Connaughton and his $9 million salary — perhaps combined with one of the lower-paid players on the roster,” Windhorst said.
When it comes down to the wire, Connaughton is the best asset Milwaukee has to offer at the deadline to improve its roster or gather picks for future purposes. In any case, it’s best to monitor what happens in the coming days to see whether the nine-year veteran will be dealt or not.
