It did not take long before the Boston Celtics matched the Milwaukee Bucks’ blockbuster trade for Damian Lillard. Just days after Milwaukee landed the seven-time All-Star, Boston countered by successfully acquiring the services of former Bucks star Jrue Holiday from the Portland Trail Blazers.
It goes without saying that these two teams have a lot at stake this coming season.
Jayson Tatum Reacts to Ex-Milwaukee Bucks Star Joining Celtics
Celtics superstar Jayson Tatum is a fan of Jrue Holiday. The three-time All-NBA small forward knows exactly what Holiday brings to the table, which is why Tatum is very much looking forward to taking the floor with his new teammate:
“I’m extremely happy to have him,” Tatum told Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report. “Jrue’s one of the most well-respected guys in this league. He’s a champion. We won a gold medal together two summers ago. So, I know him pretty well and know he is a hell of a player, a hell of a teammate.”
Even Bucks fans will agree with Tatum’s assessment of Holiday here.
Jayson Tatum Reveals Message for Jrue Holiday
Much like the Bucks, it’s going to be championship or bust for the Celtics this coming season. Both teams took massive risks this summer to improve their respective squads heading into the new campaign, and there’s no denying that the expectations are sky-high.
According to Tatum, the message he had for Holiday fell along these lines:
“I told him we’re lucky to have him and we’re going to try to get it done,” Tatum said.
The Bucks will have a thing or two to say about that, though.
