At this point, it’s hard to deny that the Milwaukee Bucks and the Boston Celtics are the two teams to watch in the Eastern Conference. Both sides made some massive moves in the offseason, with the Celtics even ending up with former Bucks star Jrue Holiday via a blockbuster trade with the Portland Trail Blazers.
It would not be a shock at all if these two teams battle it out for the No. 1 seed in the East again this season, as well as if they end up facing off against each other in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Jayson Tatum Reacts to Milwaukee Bucks’ Damian Lillard Trade
What brought about a fair amount of shock value, however, is Milwaukee’s successful coup on Damian Lillard. Not too many folks saw this sensational move coming to fruition. Even Celtics star Jayson Tatum admits that he was taken aback when news broke that Dame was taking his talents to Milwaukee
“I was surprised,” Tatum told Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report. “You saw the Dame trade talks all summer, and I never saw Milwaukee in that conversation. I never heard about them [being interested]. So, opening up my phone and seeing that definitely shocked me.”
Tatum definitely isn’t alone here.
Jayson Tatum Looking Forward to Bucks Matchup
Tatum also shared his thoughts on what he believes the Bucks will be able to bring to the table this season now that they have Lillard on their roster:
“They’re going to have a hell of a team. There’s no way around that,” Tatum said. “They have two of the best players in this league at two of those prime-time positions. They’re going to be tough, but it’s gonna be fun. I’m looking forward to this season. It’s a lot of really, really good teams in the league and it’s going be some good basketball this season.”
The Celtics aren’t bad themselves, which is exactly why Tatum is very much looking forward to testing their mettle against another title favorite this coming season. Fasten your seatbelts, folks. This is going to be good.
