The Milwaukee Bucks don’t plan on making any big moves before the start of the 2024-2025 season. However, it doesn’t mean that they aren’t monitoring anyone who could potentially be available later on in the 2024-2025 NBA season.
One of the players who could potentially be traded this season is Utah Jazz guard Jordan Clarkson. Clarkson will not be a free agent until after the 2025-2026 season.
Bleacher Report Thinks That the Milwaukee Bucks Should Take a Swing For Utah Jazz’s Jordan Clarkson
Bleacher Report writer Andy Bailey thinks that the Bucks should trade for Jordan Clarkson. The reasoning Bailey gave for this was as follows:
“Backcourt depth was an issue for the Milwaukee Bucks last season. And while they seemingly tried to address that by signing Delon Wright and Gary Trent Jr., the latter isn’t a creator, and the former was limited to 97 games over the last two seasons by injuries.
Jordan Clarkson is a spark-plug scorer who’s come a long way as a distributor in recent years. And he’s on a tanking team that has to be considering moving some veterans before February’s trade deadline.
The problem, of course, is that landing him might mean losing the heat-check guy who’s already there (Bobby Portis), but the front office could look at this roster and reasonably think backcourt help is more important.
It might just mean more minutes at the 5 for Giannis Antetokounmpo.”
It would be a sin if general manager Jon Horst traded away Bobby Portis Jr. to the Utah Jazz for him. What if Milwaukee traded Pat Connaughton and Brook Lopez instead to Utah for Clarkson? Jordan Clarkson would provide help for the team off the bench, which is something they struggled with last season outside of Bobby Portis Jr.
Clarkson Stats
A season ago with the Utah Jazz, Jordan Clarkson averaged 17.1 PPG, 3.4 RPG, 5.0 APG, 0.1 BPG, and 0.6 SPG. Clarkson also shot 41.3% from the field and 29.5% from three-point land. He should have another good season with the Jazz.
There is no doubt that teams like the Milwaukee Bucks and others will keep a close eye on him during the NBA season. Utah is not expected to be a playoff team in a loaded Western Conference and they will probably sell some pieces at the trade deadline. It is worth the risk for the Bucks as long as they are smart about it.
