Milwaukee Bucks superstar Damian Lillard stole headlines on Sunday night after sinking an epic game-winner to lift his team over the Sacramento Kings in overtime. Lillard just had to make sure that the Bucks weren’t going to go home empty-handed after a tough battle against the Kings.
Giannis Antetokounmpo had a front-row seat to witness Dame’s heroic effort, and unsurprisingly, the former back-to-back MVP had an equally epic reaction to the same.
Milwaukee Bucks Star Giannis Antetokounmpo Drops Honest Confession
After the game, Giannis was asked to share his thoughts on Lillard’s game-winner, to which the Bucks talisman responded by saying that this was the greatest buzzer-beater he’d witnessed throughout his career.
Reporters then had to remind Antetokounmpo about Khris Middleton’s iconic game-winner against the Miami Heat back in 2015. Giannis got brutally honest with his answer:
“Khris gonna be mad about it,” he joked (h/t Gabe Stoltz of Brew Hoop).
Giannis then went on to explain why he firmly believes that Lillard’s game-winner against Sacramento beats out everything else:
“It’s incredible,” Antetokounmpo said, via Eric Nehm of The Athletic. “Not to discredit Khris (Middleton) in any way, shape or form, I’ve played with this guy 11 years, 720 games with him, this was the toughest shot I’ve ever seen anybody make to win a game up close.
“It was tough. Because not only did he slow down, he kind of did an in-and-out and took a step away from the defense, jumped and while he was in the air, faded. And still was able to get it there. I don’t think it touched the rim. It was all net. At the end of the day, that’s why you get paid the big bucks.”
