The Green Bay Packers decided to move on from fan-favorite running back Aaron Jones this off-season. The move came as a bit of a surprise, even with the Josh Jacobs signing at nearly the same time. However, what was more surprising was Jones’ decision to sign with the Minnesota Vikings just a few days later.
Now that time has gone by for everyone to reflect on the entire situation, the Packers’ running back coach had something heartfelt to say.
Green Bay Packers’ Running Back Coach Makes Admission Regarding Aaron Jones’ Departure

According to USA Today’s Ryan Wood:
Packers RB coach Ben Sirmans says it was a hard, “pretty sad” day when Aaron Jones was released:
“I’d probably say the biggest disruption was not having him around as a person. I’ve spent more time with him than any other running back in my career.”
“After everything went down,” Sirmans said, “I had an opportunity to talk to him. We both expressed how we felt about each other. He understands it’s a business. Wished him well, and obviously we talked about seeing each other twice a year.
“I jokingly said to him, ‘We aren’t going to get the Dallas treatment, are we?’”
The Packers Will Face Jones Twice In 2024

The news of Jones’ departure from Green Bay after seven seasons felt abrupt. It was even more shocking to learn that he had signed with the rival Minnesota Vikings just a few days laater.
The 29-year-old running back, who was introduced alongside Sam Darnold and other newly signed Vikings, simply saw the move as business.
“It’s not strange at all. It’s football,” Jones said at his first Minnesota presser. “I played for many different teams growing up, middle school, high school. You change teams. You change teammates. That’s part of the game.”
Jones continued, “It’s a part of the business. You know what you signed up for. My agent had called me before all of that happened, told me it was a possibility, so my mind was already prepared, and I just wanted to go where I felt wanted. That’s here, and I’m excited to be here.”
It is no secret that Jones will likely play with a chip on his shoulder this season, especially when he lines up against Green Bay.
