There may not be a more beloved figure who is currently playing in the state right now than Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo. The two-time NBA MVP just finished a season in which he became the first player in league history to average 30 or more points per game with a 60% true shooting percentage. Unfortunately, a soleus injury kept him out of the Bucks’ opening round matchup against the Indiana Pacers, which they lost 4-2.
Still, the city of Milwaukee and Bucks fans are encouraged by the fact that the Greek Freak recently signed a supermax extension that will keep him with the franchise through the 2027-28 season. With Giannis and star point guard Damian Lillard under contract together until 2027, their NBA Championship window is wide open despite this season’s abrupt exit.
Giannis Antetokounmpo Has Planted Roots with the Milwaukee Bucks

When the Bucks drafted Giannis in the first round of the 2013 NBA Draft, he was just an 18-year old raw prospect with a great deal of development ahead of him. The stories about how team managers, coaches, and announcers taught him how to drive have become common knowledge in Milwaukee. When asked about whether or not he will ever leave the city, Giannis always reminds people that the Bucks picked him, that they invested in him, and he will not forget that.
Regardless of what national media members may say, the Greek Freak has never given any indication that he is unhappy in Milwaukee or that he would ever want to leave. In fact, the only reason he has said would ever cause him to want to leave is if the team stops making winning its primary goal.
Since signing his first major contract with the Bucks, Giannis has also become a minority owner of the Milwaukee Brewers. He and his brothers opened an apparel store downtown and have constantly given back to the community that adopted him.
Giannis Antetokounmpo Is Planning on Getting Married This Summer

According to the Greek news website Newsit, Giannis and his fiancé, Mariah Riddlesprigger, are getting married in August of this year. The wedding, which will take place in Greece, is reported to have a long list of celebrity guests. One of them, LeBron James, has already supposedly already accepted his invitation.
The article on Newsit states:
“Giannis Antetokounmpo and Mariah Riddlespriger have been a couple since 2016 and are preparing to walk up the… church steps this summer. According to the “On Time” report, the best date for their wedding is Saturday, August 31.
“Giannis Antetokounmpo has requested that the menu include fresh fish and seafood, fine varieties of Messinian wine, as well as dishes based on extra virgin olive oil.
“In terms of guests, the number is expected to be… big! The latest information states that the great NBA star LeBron James has already accepted the invitation and will travel to Greece for the wedding of the year.”
Giannis and Riddlesprigger have three children together: Liam, Maverick, and Eva. Giannis subtly revealed that he and Riddlesprigger were engaged during an interview last fall: “Soon [I’m going] to be married to this beautiful woman next to me,” he said in late September.
Well, turns out he was not lying! It will be interesting to see what other major NBA names are invited to what is sure to be one of the offseason’s biggest social events.
