Milwaukee Brewers: Jeff Passan Labels NL Central Rival As Most Disappointing Team Of 2023

The Milwaukee Brewers are currently amidst a six game losing streak, have lost the NL Central lead, and are back to a .500 record for the first time since the second game of the 2023 season.  Despite their struggles Baseball Columnist for ESPN Jeff Passan went off on twitter and labeled one of their rivals as the most disappointing team this season.

Jeff Passan has labeled the 2023 St. Louis Cardinals as the most disappointing team.

On Wednesday afternoon the Cardinals lost in extra innings to the San Francisco Giants.  They not only got swept in this series but extended their losing streak to five games and dropped their season record to 27-42.  As it stands today they have the worst record in the National League and only the Oakland Athletics and Kansas City Royals have a worse record.

After the Red Birds fifth straight loss Jeff Passan sounded off on the St. Louis Cardinals and labeled them as the most disappointing team.

“As mediocre as the Mets and Padres have been this season, no team comes close to the St. Louis Cardinals in terms of downright disappointment.  They are a disaster.  Five straight losses.  A 27-42 record – – the worst in the National League, better than only Oakland and Kansas City”

Jeff Passan mentions the New York Mets and San Diego Padres struggles in his tweet.  The Mets have the highest payroll by a large margin but currently sit at 31-36 and 10 games back in the National League East.  San Diego spent a bunch of money in free agency as well, but have just a 32-34 record.  At the moment they are fourth in the NL West division.

Despite the Cardinals not having the same payroll as these other two teams it’s easy to see why Jeff Passan labeled St. Louis as the most disappointing. The crazy part is that they currently have the worst National League record but are just nine games back in the division.  It is still possible that this weak division allows the Red Birds to bounce back and make a playoff push.

Maybe it is time for a new manager with a better way to set the team straight. They have the player’s but they are under achieving. Where has Christian Yelich been? What a waste of money.
