The Milwaukee Brewers are entering the 2024 season down a few key players. Devin Williams, Wade Miley, and Garrett Mitchell are all beginning the year on the injured list. Prior to their Opening Day match up against the New York Mets manager Pat Murphy announced a pair of more injuries.
Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Taylor Clarke looking at meniscus surgery for his knee.
Taylor Clarke, a right-handed reliever who was acquired via trade this off-season with the Kansas City Royals, is supposedly looking at undergoing meniscus surgery. The Brewers surrendered two prospects in Ryan Brady and Cam Devanney for the 30 year old. His Milwaukee debut will now be put on hold for the time being.
Prospect Robert Gasser is dealing with bone spurs in his elbow.

Left-handed starting pitcher Robert Gasser is reportedly dealing with bone spurs in his elbow. Per Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel this will keep him sidelined for weeks. Gasser was rumored to be a part of the Brewers plan in the month of April because they have two separate stretches of 13 consecutive games, but this injury may delay his highly anticipated MLB debut.
What are the implications of these two injuries?

In regard to Taylor Clarke being injured his absence will allow for other pitchers to get an opportunity in the bullpen. Thyago Vieira is one pitcher that comes to mind in which this flamethrower needs an Opening Day roster spot due to being out of minor league options. Once healthy Clarke does one minor league option left that could potentially be exercised this year.
From a starting rotation standpoint the Brewers may have to get creative during the month of April. Gasser was a built in security blanket for their two prolonged stretches without off days and now it remains unclear if he will be available during that time. This could mean that Aaron Ashby or Janson Junk get early call ups to the big leagues.
