Jackson Chourio of the Milwaukee Brewers is getting a lot of attention and rightfully so. Earlier this year he took Miami Marlins top pitching prospect Eury Perez deep as he launched a three run home run off the foul pole. Eury Perez has since been promoted to the Major Leagues. Tonight, again in Double-A, another top pitching prospect fell victim as Jackson Chourio hit a home run off of Los Angeles Angeles 10th ranked prospect Ben Joyce.
Ben Joyce, who was a third round selection in the MLB draft out of Tennessee, is a flame throwing right-handed pitcher. He has reached 105 MPH on the radar gun. The particular pitch that Jackson Chourio homered on came in at 99 MPH. It left the bat at 105 MPH.

This home run was Jackson Chourio’s fourth of the season. His slash line of .258/.300/.392 indicates a bit of a slow start to the season, but he has delivered 20 RBI’s and stolen 10 bases. Additionally his strikeout rate is currently a solid 24.6%.
It’s been fun to see Jackson Chourio perform well against other organizations’ top pitching prospects. He has a knack for raising his level of play/coming through in big moments when situations like this arise. Hopefully that continues throughout his development.
