The Milwaukee Brewers are in a bit of a slump having lost six of their previous ten games. Most recently, they dropped the final game against the Miami Marlins 1-0 in what was one of their worst offensive performances of the season. What is more, they wasted a stellar outing by Freddy Peralta, whose only blemish was an early solo home run.
Still, the Brewers hold a two-game lead over the Chicago Cubs in the National League Central Division. Fortunately for Milwaukee, the Cubs have been even worse as of late, having lost seven of their last ten games.
When all things are considered, the fact that Milwaukee still leads the division is a testament to the girt and will of this team as a whole. Four different starting pitchers are currently on the injured list: Wade Miley (out for season), Jakob Junis, DL Hall, and Joe Ross. The Brewers have been forced to rely on the contributions of rookie starters and Bryse Wilson, all of whom have performed admirably.
Still, it is imperative that the Brewers get their starters back healthy so that they can continue their quest for another division title and, hopefully, a deep playoff run.
Left-Handed Starting Pitcher DL Hall Is Working His Way Back from a Knee Injury

Left-handed starting pitcher DL Hall was originally acquired by the Brewers, along with infielder Joey Ortiz, in the Corbin Burnes trade this offseason. Despite much offseason hype, his 2024 season has not gotten off to a good start.
In four starts, he is only 0-1 with a 7.71 ERA and 2.27 WHIP. His fastball velocity was down and he was not getting the swings and misses that the Brewers expected him to. During his last start, which occurred on April 20, he suffered a sprained knee and was put on the injured list.
Hall is currently on a rehab assignment within the Brewers’ minor league system. He pitched a scoreless inning of relief in his lone game with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, and a scoreless inning at Triple-A. However, his reaction coming off the mound in this latest outing in Nashville had some Brewers fans concerned.
Milwaukee Brewers Fans Were Concerned DL Hall Got Hurt Again

During his outing in Nashville on Thursday night, Hall appeared frustrated when walking off of the mound at the end of his inning. A couple fans noticed that he might have landed awkwardly and could have reinjured his knee:
One person wrote: “DL Hall didn’t look smooth leaving the mound. Fastball broke 95 on 5/7 fastballs before that with 2-3″ more vertical rise and three whiffs on those 7 pitches. This may be a shame, waiting to hear more but he looked really frustrated coming off that mound.”
Another posted: “Yeah looked like he tweaked something on that second to last pitch and then the last pitch he looked really awkward on and was cursing while going off the field.”
However, Brewers insider Curt Hogg reported that the Brewers said that there were no concerns about Hall’s outing:
A few eagle-eyed observers noticed Hall walking off the mound frustrated and yelling into his glove a couple pitches after an awkward landing. But no concerns from his outing the Brewers say. https://t.co/WexCPLVpQy

It sounds like Hall avoided another injury, which is great news for the Brewers who are desperate for starting pitching. Getting him back and having his velocity return to the mid-to-upper 90s would be a huge lift for the rotation.
