The Green Bay Packers seem to have it figured out when it comes to the quarterback position. If Jordan Love pans out, Green Bay will be on their third consecutive franchise quarterback. Something very few other franchises can ever say they had.
However, a change we have seen is the Packers prioritizing the backup quarterback position. The Packers have drafted a quarterback in two consecutive drafts (2023 and 2024) as well as keeping their options open with veteran quarterbacks.
Their prioritization of the backup quarterback position could mean bad news for their 2023 draft pick.
Green Bay Packers Quarterback Gets Troubling News Ahead Of Training Camp

According to Kenneth Teape of Packers Coverage:
The competition for the backup job behind him will also garner some attention. Bringing in a veteran option has been discussed as a potential move during training camp.
The Green Bay Packers have last season’s backup, Sean Clifford, competing with 2024 seventh-round pick Michael Pratt. Should something happen to Love, how confident would the team be in either of those players starting games?
That could certainly play into why Zack Kruse of Packers Wire believes Clifford could be on the chopping block this offseason. He put together a piece detailing one player on the roster bubble at each position, and Clifford was chosen among the quarterbacks.
“Clifford had a strong summer as a rookie last year and is the slightly more experienced quarterback compared to seventh-round pick Michael Pratt, but the Packers are going to let Clifford and Pratt compete to be the primary backup behind Jordan Love in 2024.
Being that Green Bay brought in Jake Fromm for a workout and drafted Michael Pratt, they are certainly keeping their options open behind Love.
If Clifford winds up being cut he will certainly wind up on another NFL squad. He showed the Packers’ front office tremendous talent and won the backup job with ease last season.
