The Green Bay Packers suddenly have an ample amount of talent on offense surrounding Jordan Love. Green Bay spent the last few off-seasons investing in young but talented running backs, wide receivers, and tight ends.
The 2024 off-season saw Green Bay revamp the running back room. One of these new additions is looking at significant playing time this year.
The Green Bay Packers Announce Significant Playing Time For Newly Acquired RB

According to The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman when asked about MarShawn Lloyd’s potential this year:
What would the team need to see from MarShawn Lloyd that would make him RB2 out of camp? — JU
For those attending camp practices, keep an eye on Lloyd’s shiftiness in traffic and explosiveness. The rookie brings a different element than AJ Dillon in that regard, which was evident during the offseason. Offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich basically said already that Lloyd won’t ride the bench like Dillon did as a rookie.
The team needs to see more of those traits as a runner in both practice and preseason games but also an ability to pass protect (like Aaron Jones against the Cowboys in the playoffs last season) and proficiency in catching passes. Head coach Matt LaFleur likes his running backs to be well-versed in all aspects of the position.
If Lloyd can develop into a three down back, the Packers may have one of the more versatile running back rooms in the NFL.
Josh Jacobs was a massive addition right before the Packers decided to move on from Aaron Jones. Bringing back AJ Dillon allows for Green Bay to have a familiar and trustworthy face behind Love.
Lloyd could be the secret to putting this running back room over the top.
“The good thing about him is he’s a pretty explosive player, not just in the run game but also in the pass game,” running backs coach Ben Sirmans said. “Then you kinda forget about how thick he is, so he’ll be physical enough to break tackles but then also fast enough to give you those long, home run plays.”
