The Milwaukee Brewers farm system has ascended upward and a mid-season update currently has them ranked as the third best according to MLB Pipeline. Jackson Chourio is the main headline of the group, but they have had some prospects breakout this season. Two of them were recently recognized by being listed on an all-breakout prospect team.
Milwaukee Brewers prospects Tyler Black and Jacob Misiorowski were listed on MLB Pipeline’s all-breakout prospect team.
Tyler Black – 3B
For Tyler Black his season began in Double-A Biloxi and he was promoted to Triple-A in early August. The former 33rd overall pick has had success at both levels. With the Shuckers he had a .924 OPS in 84 games with 61 walks and 47 stolen bases. In 32 games with the Sounds his OPS sits at .854 with 25 walks and six stolen bases.
What has been incredible about Tyler Black this season is his ability to draw walks (86 on the year), his low strikeout rate, (20% k rate in Double-A and 12% in Triple-A) and his ability to steal bases (53). The Brewers put a recent emphasis on prospects who thrive at getting on base, stealing bases, and putting the ball in play and Tyler Black is a model of that.
Jacob Misiorowski- SP
In his first full season of affiliated baseball Jacob Misiorowski managed to play across three different levels and ended up in Double-A. He accumulated a ton of whiffs and strikeouts along the way. This is evidenced by his 110 strikeouts over 71.1 innings pitched.
Unfortunately some arm fatigue ended Jacob Misiorowski’s season prematurely. Scans thankfully came back negative, but prior to being placed on the injured list there was some buzz that he could have been promoted to the big leagues in 2023.
The future is bright surrounding several young Brewers players and it would not be surprising to see several of the top prospects get big league opportunities in 2024.
