The Milwaukee Brewers had MLB Pipeline’s 15th ranked farm system prior to the 2023 season starting. After a mid season update, that includes this year’s draft picks, they have soared up to third overall. This jump of 12 spots have them labeled as the ‘breakout system’ of 2023.
MLB Pipeline has the Milwaukee Brewers farm system ranked third overall.
After the mid-season update the Milwaukee Brewers have the third best farm system in all of baseball. Five prospects in the top 55 certainly helps with this, but they also had a few just miss the top 100 prospects list including Carlos F. Rodriguez, Luis Lara, and and Robert Gasser.
This is the breakout system of the 2023 season. Chourio and Frelick were certainly notable Top 100 prospects, but they’ve now been joined by big jumpers Quero, Misiorowski and Black on that list. Quero and Misiorowski, in particular, have become Top 4 prospects at their respective positions, solidifying their statuses as Minor League names to know. Other nice steps forward by Robert Gasser, Carlos F. Rodriguez and Luis Lara have been supported further by a solid Draft class, including ACC all-time home-run king Brock Wilken and one of the steals of 2023 in sixth-rounder Cooper Pratt.
It is encouraging that MLB Pipeline likes the Brewers 2023 draft class as well. Of their picks five of them ended up on the newest top 30 list including Brock Wilken (8), Cooper Pratt (10), Eric Bitoni (13), Josh Knoth (16), and Mike Boeve (18).
Overall this is quite the turn around for the Brewers farm system. During the middle of the 2021 season they were ranked 25th overall and were in the 19th spot at this time one year ago.
