Devin Williams and the remainder of the Milwaukee Brewers bullpen put together an incredible performance on Tuesday night against the St. Louis Cardinals at the Brew Crew came out victorious by a score of 3-2. This was a much needed victory for Milwaukee as they got blown out by 17 runs the night prior.
Wade Miley started the game on the mound for the Brewers. Unfortunately he was removed during the second inning with an injury. This was later revealed to be due to a LAT strain. With him exiting early Milwaukee used five different relievers, all of whom worked multiple innings, to defeat the Cardinals.
Milwaukee Brewers closer Devin Williams records clutch five out save to secure 3-2 victory.
Clinging to a one run lead in the eighth inning the Brewers sent out Peter Strzelecki for his second inning of work. He was able to get one out right away, but then allowed a walk and single to set up a first and third situation with just one out. This is when Craig Counsell made the move to the bullpen and brought in Devin Williams.
Facing an improbable save situation, Devin Williams managed to escape the eighth inning while preserving the Brewers lead. He struck out Billy Donovan looking and then got Nate Burleson to ground out.
In the ninth inning Williams got the first two outs rather quickly. With Willson Contreras at the plate he got what looked like a game ending fly out to center field. However the ball had some tail to it and Joey Wiemer missed the ball.
Joey Wiemer, so terrific in center field since Garrett Mitchell went down, whiffled what should have been a game-ending line drive but the Brewers get the win anyway, 3-2. Payamps, Strzelecki, Williams are the MVPs of this one in relief. pic.twitter.com/H7YRnzvOlN

With the game tying run a second base and Nolan Arenado up to bat the Brewers gave him the intentional pass. This brought up Paul DeJong who ended up grounding out to end the game. This secured Brewers victory and also was Devin Williams first career five out save.
The series finale rubber match will be Wednesday night and will feature Corbin Burnes on the mound for the Brewers and Adam Wainwright for the Cardinals.
