The Green Bay Packers will now know where they will be playing in Week 1 of the 2024 NFL regular season. On Wednesday morning, it was announced that the Packers will play in Sao Paulo, Brazil to open the season against the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday night of September 6 in Week 1.
Green Bay will be the road team in this contest because Philadelphia will be the home team. This is the first time in NFL history that a game will be played in Brazil. Mark Murphy told the media about this news by saying:
“We’re looking forward to being a part of this historic matchup against the Eagles in São Paulo. We’re excited to play in front of our devoted fans in Brazil and help build upon the international popularity of the NFL and the Packers. We had a great experience playing internationally for the first time a couple of years ago and we’re proud to be part of the league’s continued global growth.”
One of the more interesting things about this game being in Brazil is that the flag colors of that country are the same exact color scheme as the Packers.

In the 2010 season, Green Bay did play Philadelphia on the road in Week 1 and won it all that season. That was the last time that the Packers won it all when Aaron Rodgers was quarterbacking. Quarterback Jordan Love can very well be an MVP candidate this season. Love and Jalen Hurts quarterback battle in Week 1 will be fun to watch.
Both teams are going to have high expectations entering the 2024 season. This is a good Week 1 NFC matchup. The other team other than the Green Bay Packers that was being considered for this matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles was the Cleveland Browns also.
