The last time we saw the Milwaukee Bucks, they fell apart to possible NBA title contenders in the New York Knicks during a 122-109 loss, which marked their fourth straight loss. Milwaukee came up big and took a much-needed win over the NBA’s best team this season the Boston Celtics in a 104-91 victory. This monumental win puts the Bucks back on the right track, as they hope to close out their season with pure success heading into the playoffs.
This win gives the Bucks a 48-31 record. They sit one game ahead of the third-seeded Knicks, and two games above the Orlando Magic, and the Cleveland Cavaliers. For the Celtics, they drop to 62-17, and this marks their tenth loss of the season to Eastern Conference foes.
Milwaukee Bucks Take a Much-Needed and Monumental Win 104-91 To the Celtics
The Milwaukee Bucks came into this matchup at home with something to prove. More than six minutes into the game, the Bucks held a 10-point lead over the Bucks. Just a minute later, their lead would jump up to 15 points. With one minute remaining in the first quarter, Milwaukee held a ridiculous 19-point lead but would finish the quarter holding a 16-point advantage.
Milwaukee continued their dominance as two minutes into the second quarter they held a 24-point lead their biggest lead of the night. Throughout this entire quarter, the Bucks led at least by 14 points. They walked away at halftime with a 61-41 lead, a 20-point advantage, and a ton of boosted morale heading into the locker room.
In this game full of all-stars, it would be Brook Lopez who led all scorers with 15 points in addition to having five rebounds, and two blocks. Giannis Antetokounmpo had 13 points, eight rebounds, six assists, a steal, and a block heading into halftime. For the Celtics, Jrue Holiday put up 10 points, four rebounds, two assists, and a block. Jayson Tatum had nine points on four of ten shooting.
The Boston Celtics Comeback in the Third; Milwaukee Bucks Ultimately Take the Win
Boston would finally get their flow going in the third quarter. They outscored Milwaukee 24-15, heading into the fourth quarter down just 11 points. The Celtics committed three turnovers compared to the Bucks five during the third quarter. Also, Boston shot nearly 48 percent from the floor, while Milwaukee only made about 35 percent of their shots. One other problem for the Bucks is their star Giannis Antetokounmpo inbounded the ball late in the third when suddenly he fell to the court reaching for his right calf instantaneously.
Milwaukee rallied in the fourth, never allowing the Celtics to have a single-digit deficit. The Bucks held anywhere from a 13 to a 19-point lead during the final 12 minutes of action. The Milwaukee Bucks would ultimately take this game 104-91, supplying the home fans with a much-needed win. Boston’s bad three-point shooting, being out-rebounded, and committing one more turnover than the Bucks in the fourth quarter is what eventually led to the Celtics downfall.
Six Bucks Score in Double Digits During the Win
Six Bucks scored in double-digits to help carry the team to victory. Patrick Beverly led the team with 20 points while having 10 rebounds, and three assists. Antetokounmpo, Lopez, and Bobby Portis Jr. finished with 15 points each. Both Damian Lillard and Khris Middleton put up 12 points each in the win. Celtics Jayson Tatum led all scorers with 22 points while also recording five rebounds, six assists, and a block in 37 minutes of play.
Milwaukee will take on the Orlando Magic tonight for their final regular season game at home for the 2023-2024 NBA season. Boston will host the New York Knicks on Thursday night.
