The Green Bay Packers made the difficult decision to move on from long-time star David Bakhtiari. The $40M cap hit was just too much to overcome, even with a restructure. His recent injury history also played a major factor in the release.
However, one recent signing had Bakhtiari speaking out on social media.
The Green Bay Packers Signed An Offensive Tackle
According to the Packers official website:
The Green Bay Packers have signed T Andre Dillard. The transaction was announced Thursday by General Manager Brian Gutekunst.
Dillard (6-5, 315), a sixth-year player out of Washington State, was originally selected in the first round (No. 22 overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles. After four years in Philadelphia (2019-22), he spent last season with the Tennessee Titans (2023). Overall, Dillard has played in 59 regular-season games with 19 starts.
In 2023, he tied his career high with 16 games played and set a career mark with 10 starts. He has also played in five postseason contests in his career. In college, Dillard played in 42 games with 39 starts and was a two-time All-Pac-12 selection. He will wear No. 73 for the Packers.
David Bakhtiari Had Something To Say About The Signing
When Bakhtiari saw the signing, he took to social media to respond about it:

Aaron Nagler of Cheesehead TV responded to Bakhtiari’s comment:
Yes I’m sure the deals being discussed were similar… pic.twitter.com/hQSW8lvVGX

It may have certainly stung a bit that the Packers signed a veteran left tackle just over a month after releasing him.
It will be interesting to see where Bakhtiari lands for the 2024 season. He has made it clear that he isn’t done playing in the NFL.

It is hard to justify paying $40 million to a guy who has hardly played any snaps the past few years. DB has been an excellent player when on the field, but his future upside has really taken a nosedive with all these injuries, and he is getting older.
