Green Bay Packers Greatest Player #74: Dorsey Levens
Another fan-favorite from the 1990’s and Super Bowl XXXI winning team, Dorsey Levens, is the 74th greatest player in franchise history (according to AV). He was drafted by the Packers in the fifth round (149th overall pick) of the 1994 NFL Draft.
What is very interesting about Levens is that he currently ranks seventh on the Packers’ all-time rushing list (3,937 yards) despite being the team’s featured running back for only two seasons.
Those seasons, of course, were the best of his career. In 1997, Levens rans for 1,435 yards and seven touchdowns and made his only Pro Bowl appearance. After an injury shortened 1998 season, Levens returned as the Green Bay’s featured back in 1999, rushing for 1,034 yards and nine touchdowns.
Of course, Levens also had a good year in 1996, the year the Packers won the Super Bowl. As the second option behind Edgar Bennett, he rushed for 566 yards and five touchdowns.
Levens spent the last three years of his career with the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants. His career AV with Green Bay was 53.
