Fresh from a heartbreaking loss against the San Francisco 49ers, the Green Bay Packers are now setting their sights on the 2024 NFL Draft to improve their team for next season.

While names like the Iowa Hawkeyes’ Cooper DeJean and Notre Dame’s Joe Alt are being projected as the Packers’ top pick in the draft, other prospects may come into play to address a specific need of the team – defense.

This need comes after the Packers suffered a brutal loss to San Francisco, a game in which Jordan Love made a huge mistake during the final stretch of the match. With the NFL Draft coming in April, Green Bay has the chance to infuse the team with new talent or get experienced veterans by using their draft picks.

Green Bay Packers Projected to Add 4 Defensive Players in 2024 Mock NFL Draft

In the event Green Bay uses its draft picks to improve, the front office might consider targeting prospects that can boost the team’s defense.

In a mock draft made by Brennen Rupp for Packers Wire, the team can use its 25th pick to select Quinyon Mitchell, a Toledo cornerback who has all the defensive tools to play that particular position.

For the 41st pick, the Packers can go for Georgia’s Javon Bullard to become their hybrid defensive back. Calen Bullock and Marist Liufau can come in at the 58th and 88th picks, respectively, to provide defensive upside to the team.

Of course, Brian Gutekunst can package these picks to trade up in the draft or get an experienced free agent to bolster the team’s performance next season. With so many weaknesses being exposed after their game against the San Francisco 49ers, Jordan Love and company will need to step up their game if they hope to make it big in the NFL.

The Packers’ front office will have a couple of months to plan their moves before the 2024 NFL Draft commences. Until then, be on the lookout for any major move the team will make within that time.
