The Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers find themselves in one of the most interesting off-seasons of recent memory. One off-season removed from the Packers trading away star wide receiver Davante Adams, they could be on the brink of another franchise-changing trade. One of the latest updates regarding this Aaron Rodgers trade had fans on social media buzzing.
“Real” Aaron Rodgers Trade Deadline Revealed

Per Athlon Sports:
For NFL fans wondering how long this offseason’s Aaron Rodgers saga might drag out, Ian Rapoport’s segment on today’s Pat McAfee Show was an informative watch.
The veteran insider detailed Rodgers’ and the Green Bay Packers’ timeline to complete a trade. And- according to Rapoport- the actual deadline for a deal to culminate is more than a month away.
“It’s actually the Jets and the Packers that are now negotiating and trying to figure this out. I’m trying to look at where this goes; and, you know, deadlines are always what drives these things. There is a real possibility this rolls right up until the draft because that is the only deadline,” Rapoport began.
“It’s about 2023 draft picks. And when you actually have to use them is the deadline.”
Rapoport went on to note that he was unsure which side- the Jets or the Packers- had leverage in this situation. In the reporter’s mind, if it was widely known which side was in a more advantageous negotiating position, this trade would have already been completed.
Rapoport’s news is sobering for Jets fans who had hoped a deal would have come together by now. But football fans now at least have clarity on when an Aaron Rodgers trade must be completed by.
The fact that the 2023 NFL Draft is the unspoken “deadline” for the Aaron Rodgers trade gives many fans hope, yet makes just as many fans upset. It was March 8th, 2023 when Aaron Rodgers signed his massive three-year $150 million extension. Many fans were hoping for that same timeline this year.
