The Green Bay Packers really added a lot of youth to this roster. There are not many old veterans on the team like in the past couple of years. Whether it is a rebuild or not the Green Bay Packers goal this year was to get very young at almost every position. This team win or lose will grow together and build for the future beyond 2023. Looking at how the Packers roster looks right now they are pretty solid at numerous positions. Here are the deepest position groups currently on the Packers.
Offensive Line
Jordan Love I know will be happy with the group he has blocking in front of him on the offensive line. The projected starters are David Bakhtiari, Elgton Jenkins, Josh Myers, Jon Runyan, and Yosh Ninjman/Zach Tom. The depth behind the starters are pretty solid as well. The backups for offensive tackle are going to either be Yosh or Tom depending on who wins the starting job at right tackle.
Then there is Caleb Jones and Rasheed Walker promising young players who want to take that next step in their development. In addition, for emergencies Elgton Jenkins can play tackle in a pinch. As for the interior the Packers have Royce Newman, Jake Hanson, and Sean Rhyan. This is probably the deepest offensive line group the Packers have had in a very long time.
Edge Rush
The Green Bay Packers on paper really have a pretty good edge group going into this season. Rashan Gary will be back this season as he will be returning from a torn ACL he suffered last year. Preston Smith, who was solid last year, will also be back and will be the oldest veteran of the group.
Kingsley Enagbare will look to take that next step in his second year after showing promise towards the end of the 2022 season. First round pick Lukas Van Ness will get some significant snaps as a rookie and has the potential to be a very dominant pass rusher in the NFL. Then there is Justin Hollins who the Packer resigned this offseason and should be in a good rotation this season. Also, have to not count out UDFA rookie Brenton Cox who if he can stay out of trouble could have a role on defense as well. This could be a very dangerous pass rush for the Packers this season on defense.
Cornerback
The Green Bay Packers over the years have made sure to solidify the cornerback position. They have a solid group at the position this year. The starters are projected to be Jaire Alexander and Rasul Douglas who can create one of the best cornerback duos in the NFL. Eric Stokes should be in the mix as well, but that all depends on if he can come back fully healthy from his ankle injury. Kisean Nixion most likely is the starter at slot corner and is primed for a breakout season. Shemar-Jean-Charles, Corey Ballentine, and rookie Carrington Valentine provide solid depth for the Packers at corner. The Packers really have a very deep cornerback room going into this season.
Wide Receiver
The Green Bay Packers at wide receiver are loaded with young talent. Starts with Christain Watson and Romeo Dubs who both had big roles as rookies last year and will be the top receivers for the Packers on offense this season. Then there is Samori Toure who has gotten much bigger, and the coaches can not stop raving about him.
Rookie Jayden Reed looks to be the starter day one at slot receiver and has the ability to step in and make an immediate impact day one for the Packers offense. Dontayvion Wicks a speedy receiver could be a surprise as a rookie this year. Grant DuBose will most likely be inactive for most of his rookie season as this will be a developmental year for him. One sleeper is Bo Melton who gives another option for the Packers in the slot. This is a very talented and young group on the Packers offense coming into this season.
Inside Linebacker
The Green Bay Packers have a very solid inside linebacker group going into this season. It is led by De’Vondre Campbell who will look to have a bounce back season this year. Next to him will be second year player Quay Walker that should be in for a breakout year. Behind them are both Eric Wilson and Isaiah Mcduffie in which both are solid players and will contribute a lot on special teams. In addition, Tariq Carpenter was moved to inside linebacker, and he could provide value there as well. What was once a weakness for the Packers is now one of their biggest strengths at inside linebacker.
