Alexander’s stellar season saw him rack up 56 total tackles, with a remarkable 43 of them being solo efforts1. His aggressive, precise play also earned him five interceptions, a career high, and 59 interception return yards, making him a formidable threat after stealing the ball. His reading of offensive schemes and ability to strip the ball demonstrated his growing maturity and understanding of the game.
His return to form in the 2022 to 2023 season was a welcome sight for Packers fans, who had sorely missed his defensive impact during the previous season due to a right shoulder A/C joint sprain. This past season, he played all 16 games, tying his career high from 2019. His presence on the field was instrumental for the Packers, especially in the post-Aaron Rodgers rebuild era.
Not only did Alexander prove his worth on the field, but his restructured deal in February of 2023 also aided the Packers off it. The new agreement freed up $9.45 million in cap space, allowing the team greater flexibility in their rookie deals and offseason signings.
Another Accolade by PFF
On top of his unrivaled single coverage grades, PFF also named Alexander as one of the top 10 cornerbacks in the NFL–listed at #5. The 26-year-old defender allowed just a 66.2 passer rating when targeted and earned an 82.1 PFF coverage grade. This stellar performance shows Alexander is just entering the prime of his career, with much more to look forward to in the coming seasons.
