Corbin Burnes is a legit Cy Young candidate this season. In his last start he again remonstrated that by tying a MLB record and setting two new franchise records! In tying the MLB record of 10 consecutive strikeouts in a row, he now owns that franchise record. Additionally, he set the franchise record for strikeouts in a game without allowing a walk.
Yovani Gallardo previously owned the franchise record of 14 strikeouts in a game without allowing a walk. Burnes beat this by striking out 15. As for striking out 10 batters in a row, he joined just two other pitchers to ever accomplish this feat.
And the streak ends at 10, as Matt Duffy punches a single to right field.

This marks the second time this season that Corbin Burnes has tied or set a MLB record. The first MLB record Burnes set came in the earlier part of the season. His 58 strikeouts before issuing a walk was a MLB record. Both of these records revolve around strikeouts, which clearly is an area that Burnes excels at.
One of the more impressive parts about Burnes’s most recent performance was the pitch mix that he used. Eight times the final strike came on the cutter, four times the slider, twice the curveball, and once the changeup. It was very uncommon for a batter to even make contact as opposing batters whiffed 30 times against him!
Following the outing, Burnes lowered his season ERA to 2.23 and increased his season strikeout total to 172, which is currently third best in the MLB.. Teammate Brandon Woodruff also has a 2.23 ERA and Freddy Peralta has as 2.26 ERA. This certainly is a special group of pitchers!
Along with Burnes, Brewers pitcher Freddy Peralta has also broke a MLB record this year as well. The record Peralta is still adding to is the most starts in a single season with allowing two hits or fewer. Peralta surpassed Nolan Ryan to take that record.
