Milwaukee Brewers impending free agent Willy Adames is in line for a massive contract this off-season.  It is expected that the Brew Crew will be out bid from the price range that they are comfortable in and that Adames will be in a new uniform next season.  Recently, a MLB Insider suggested that his price-tag is higher than $200 million and that a position switch may be on the horizon as well.

Over the past few years shortstop have been signing massive deals with organizations.  Shortstops like Corey Seager, Trea Turner, and Francisco Lindor all have $300 million contracts.  Additionally, Xander Bogaerts inked a deal with $280 million, Dansby Swasnon $177 million, and Javier Baez + Trevor Story $140 million.  Willy Adames is expected to join this elite group of players with enormous contracts and Jon Heyman believes that Adames will fall into the $200 million plus range.

Jon Heyman also hinted at the possibility of Willy Adames switching to third base

In Heyman’s Friday notes article he also discussed that Willy Adames could play third base.  Despite Adames being the top available shortstop on the market this off-season this would increase the amount of potential bidders.  Heyman specifically named the Toronto Blue Jays and the New York Mets as fits for Adames as a third baseman.

Adames could also could play third base, so he could also fit the Blue Jays and others.

Mets baseball prez (president) David Stearns acquired (Willy) Adames for Milwaukee. Could they use him at third, and move Mark Vientos to first base if Pete Alonso leaves?

MLB free agency begins the day after the World Series concludes.  For the first five days after that Milwaukee will get the first opportunity at signing him.  If a deal is not made he then will be free to talk with all other organizations.
