The deeply-rooted rivalry between the Brewers and Cubs got deeper last night. Corbin Burnes looks to relieve the drama to get his first win of the season. Burnes has pitched masterfully in his past two starts. He’s already establishing himself as an early Cy Young candidate. The Brewers right-hander is facing the returning Cub, Jake Arrieta.
It Burnes Because of No Run Support
The win-loss stat is ridiculous for this reason. Corbin Burnes has a 0.73 ERA going into today’s game with a record of 0-1. Throughout Burnes’ two starts, the Brewers’ offense has provided one run. It’s time to give Corbin Burnes the run support he deserves because of the way he pitches. Burnes’ revamped arsenal makes him the jack of all trades in the Brewers’ rotation.
Corbin Burnes so far this season
• 2 starts
• 0.73 ERA
• 12.1 innings
• 20 strikeouts (14.6 K/9)His command on a multitude of pitches makes it nearly impossible for hitters to succeed. One of the Brewers’ 2-headed monsters at the top of the rotation pic.twitter.com/j4VeU8n1N7

Jake Arrieta’s Return to Milwaukee
After spending the last three seasons with the Phillies, Arrieta is making his return to Milwaukee as a member of the Chicago Cubs. He has been solid for the Cubs, giving up three runs in his last two starts. Arrieta is 2-0 with a 2.25 ERA coming into today’s matchup. In 19 career games against Milwaukee, Arrieta has given up 50 runs to the team’s offense. Those runs are the most he has given up to any team in the league.
Final Thoughts
In the last four games, the Brewers’ offense has scored 26 runs. Keston Hiura is starting to make contact with the ball to string a few hits together, while Luis Urias is doing the same. Urias has been quite the surprise despite his slow start at the plate. If the Brewers’ offense can collectively score runs with Corbin Burnes on his A-game, the team should have no problem but to win today.
Before today’s game, the team announced that Lorenzo Cain was placed on the 10-day IL with a left squad strain. The corresponding move is bringing up Tyrone Taylor from the alternate site.

Notable subtractions from the Cubs lineup: Wilson Contreras and Kris Bryant. Contreras has been fueling the drama of the series and came up big for the Cubs with a go-ahead 2-run home run off of Brent Suter last night. Both are not injury related, Contreras and Bryant are getting the day off.
