The Green Bay Packers have announced that they have elevated two players to their roster for the game against the Minnesota Vikings. Wide receiver Juwann Winfree was the odd man out when the Packers took seven wide receivers on their 53-man roster for the first time under Matt LaFleur. He has been added to the gameday roster as Allen Lazard is listed as doubtful on the team’s injury report. Safety Micah Abernathy, who was signed during the preseason, has also been elevated to the roster. The Packers announced the moves on their website and on Twitter.

The Packers Will Have Seven Wide Receivers Against the Vikings
As mentioned, Allen Lazard is listed as doubtful on the team’s injury report. With the addition of Winfree, the Packers will roll out Sammy Watkins, Romeo Doubs, Christian Watson, Amari Rodgers, Randall Cobb, and Samori Toure against Minnesota. Doubs, Watson, and Toure, of course, are all rookies will be seeing their first NFL regular season action. Watson will be seeing his first NFL game play of any kind after missing the preseason games as he recovered from knee surgery.
Of the healthy receivers, only Sammy Watkins and Randall Cobb have played any meaningful snaps against them. Watkins is averaging 6.3 receptions, 73.7 yards, and 0.7 touchdowns against Minnesota in three career games against them. Cobb is averaging 3.6 receptions, 38.4 yards, and 0.2 touchdowns against the Vikings in 14 career games against them. Juwann Winfree has appeared in games against the Vikings twice, but has just one reception for 12 yards.
