All right Brewers’ fans, it’s time for redemption weekend! Our brew crew will be taking on the Miami Marlins in a 3 game weekend series in Miami. Who better than Brent Suter to come on and try to add a spark. In my opinion, the Marlins are probably one of the sneakiest teams in baseball that cannot be taken lightly. If you don’t play your absolute best, they will take advantage of that and beat you. That was in full display just last week when the Marlins took the 3 game series against the Brewers 2 games to 1. The…

While the Packers-Aaron Rodgers situation remains unresolved, one thing should be clear to Rodgers and to most observers: Rodgers’ best chance of winning another Super Bowl remains him staying in Green Bay. The Packers are a team that is built to win now so long as Rodgers returns as their quarterback. They are coming off back-to-back 13-3 seasons and consecutive appearances in the NFL Championship Game. In 2019, the Packers were the number two seed in the NFC, in 2020 they were the number one seed. Their offense, which is returning all 11 starters if Rodgers remains on the team,…

With Brett Anderson going on the 10-day injured list, the Brewers had to decide who will start in Anderson’s place. Many thought it was going to be Brent Suter, newly acquired Patrick Weigel, or even Eric Lauer. Manager Craig Counsell blindsided us with a surprise and announced Zack Godley as this afternoon’s out-getter.  Introducing Zack Godley The 31-year-old right-handed pitcher is two years removed from pitching in the National League. He spent last season with the Boston Red Sox and the latter half of 2019 with the Toronto Blue Jays. Godley is Brett Anderson-esque as he is mainly a ground…

Deep breaths Brewers’ fans. It’s a new day. This afternoon’s game at Wrigley Field features Freddy Peralta and Adbert Alzolay. The two starters have previously met twice already. This will be their third time facing off against one another. Adbert Alzolay: What will the Brewers see from him? This is Alzolay’s third go-around with the Brewers lineup. This time, the Brewers do not have their core players in the lineup like Lorenzo Cain and Christian Yelich. As of late, the Brewers have been able to get the job done without Cain and Yelich. Now that Kolten Wong is healthy, he…

The NFL Draft is the most important part of the offseason. It is the time when the foundation of championship teams is built. While the first round selections get most of the attention, finding gems in the late rounds of the draft is what separates the contenders from the pretenders.  Indeed, some of the greatest players in history have been late-round picks. The Green Bay Packers have a history of finding quality players late in the draft. Here is a look at the five best. Keep in mind that the number of rounds in the draft has gone down significantly…

Bucks' forward Thanasis Antetokounmpo dunks during a game against the Sacramento Kings. (Morry Gash/AP)

When Jon Horst signed Thanasis Antetokounmpo to a two-year minimum contract in 2019, Milwaukee Bucks fans (rightfully, at the time) assumed the move had more to do with his last name than his 4.9 points per game in the Greek Basket League.  It’s an assumption that made sense at the time. Decision time was looming closer for his little brother Giannis, and a Bucks squad that had just lost four straight to the Toronto Raptors was desperate to keep its first franchise cornerstone in decades happy.  We’re all eating our words today.  Nobody saw it coming, but Thanasis Antetokounmpo is…

The Milwaukee Bucks dispatched the depleted Atlanta Hawks, 120-109, on Saturday. It was Giannis Antetokounmpo’s first game back from injury, and the reigning MVP was noticeably hobbled in his 25-minute, 15-point game.   Missing key players like John Collins and Danilo Gallinari, Atlanta fought hard to make it a close game in the third frame, leading 73-74. The Bucks rallied back with a 12-2 run that saw them enter the final period with a 94-82 lead that they never relinquished until the final buzzer.   Here are a few takeaways we noticed. Starters carry the Bucks when Giannis can’t It’s…

The deeply-rooted rivalry between the Brewers and Cubs got deeper last night. Corbin Burnes looks to relieve the drama to get his first win of the season. Burnes has pitched masterfully in his past two starts. He’s already establishing himself as an early Cy Young candidate. The Brewers right-hander is facing the returning Cub, Jake Arrieta. It Burnes Because of No Run Support The win-loss stat is ridiculous for this reason. Corbin Burnes has a 0.73 ERA going into today’s game with a record of 0-1. Throughout Burnes’ two starts, the Brewers’ offense has provided one run. It’s time to…

Trevor Anderson; Wisconsin basketball

Trevor Anderson is one of the Wisconsin basketball players that are transferring out of the program. Like Nate Reuvers and Walt McGrory, Anderson was a senior this past season but has an extra year of eligibility after the NCAA granted waivers for the 2020-21 season. All three have chosen to continue their basketball careers, just not with the Badgers. The Badgers had seven seniors and six who played regularly. Most had already announced their intentions before Trevor Anderson, so some felt maybe he’d want to stick around for another year in Madison. Certainly with D’Mitrik Trice leaving, there would be…
