Moments like this are why baseball is special. Andruw Monasterio started his baseball career with the Chicago Cubs playing in the 2014 Venezuelan summer league, since then he’s been splitting his time in the minor league with the Chicago Cubs, Washington Nationals, and the Cleveland Guardians. Monasterio started off this season for the Brewers Triple-A affiliate Nashville Sounds where he batted .271, four home runs, 19 RBI’s in 42 games. Monasterio was called up to the Brewers after the team elected to designate LHP Alex Claudio for assignment, and placed shortstop Wily Adames on the 7-day concussion list after Adames…

With no Brewers baseball today, there are so many things not happening today. The early morning grill outs, the vendors bellowing out different food and beverages, the honoring of veterans who served out country, and Bob Kozlowski’s famous 7th inning stretch every Sunday and patriotic occasions. With that being said, that doesn’t mean we can’t look back on this special Brewer moment that happened on Memorial Day 2021, here’s Luis Urias’ walk off single vs Detroit Tigers on Memorial Day in 2021. https://youtu.be/KW2WnisK4Z0

This player isn’t known in most MLB circles, and won’t be a guy who gets talked about most nights but as Peter Brand played by Jonah Hill in Moneyball said to Billy Beane and a roomful of scouts “He gets on base.” Meet Owen Miller who was acquired from the Cleveland Guardians on December 24, 2022, for a player to be named later. Miller a hometown guy, is batting .346, with four home runs, 11 RBIs, and 36 hits in 104 ABs for the Brewers. When Matt Arnold was promoted to general manager in October, he constructed a roster that…

The Brewers have decided to shake up their starting rotation on Saturday. The Brewers have moved number starting pitcher Eric Lauer to the bullpen. The rotation, for now, will consist of Corbin Burnes, Colin Rea, Adrian Houser, Freddy Peralta, and Wade Miley. The team hopes to get Brandon Woodruff back in late June to early July. Woodruff has been out since April 15 with a Grade 2 sub-scapular strain. Lauer’s numbers are confounding as he has a 3-1 record with a 1.90 ERA and 23.2 innings pitched on the road, versus a dreadful home record. Lauer has held lefties to…

It’s been hard to assess Zamora so far in his career, as he’s dealt with injuries each of the past three seasons. First, a Torn left…

Milwaukee announced on Sunday that they placed Varland on the 15-day IL with a bruised right hand after taking this scary line drive in Saturday’s game against the San Diego Padres. https://twitter.com/TalkingFriars/status/1647373948097794048?s=20 The good news is that Varland got up right away and was examined for a couple of minutes by Head Athletic Trainer Scott Barringer before being taken off the field; Varland was able to walk off under his own power. Varland said after the game: “I’m more mad at the slider location; felt good out of my hand just didn’t get there came back at me hit…

The Milwaukee Brewers announced on Tuesday that they have placed RHP Brandon Woodruff on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation retroactive to April 8. In a corresponding move, Milwaukee has recalled RHP Janson Junk from Triple-A Nashville. Woodruff in his last start against the St. Louis Cardinals, went five innings, allowed four hits, struck out four and only walked two. This IL stint according to Manager Craig Counsell is precautionary as Woodruff wasn’t recovering as quickly from his last start so Milwaukee decided to be cautious and put him on the IL. With this move, it is expected…

Christian Yelich Home Run

Christian Yelich had to get away. Yelich didn’t pay attention to anything baseball-related this offseason, opting to spend time with family and friends including a vacation to Park, City Utah with infielder Mike Brosseau. (Via Adam McCalvy.) This quote stuck out to me for Yelich who is trying to rebound from a sub-par 2022 season.  “It’s different for everybody and I think you should take advantage of it. I think it’s healthy and in turn, could make you better at what you do for a job.” (Via Adam McCalvy.) Well safe to say Yelich’s focus away from baseball, has made him…
