Moments like this are why baseball is special.
Andruw Monasterio started his baseball career with the Chicago Cubs playing in the 2014 Venezuelan summer league, since then he’s been splitting his time in the minor league with the Chicago Cubs, Washington Nationals, and the Cleveland Guardians. Monasterio started off this season for the Brewers Triple-A affiliate Nashville Sounds where he batted .271, four home runs, 19 RBI’s in 42 games.
Monasterio was called up to the Brewers after the team elected to designate LHP Alex Claudio for assignment, and placed shortstop Wily Adames on the 7-day concussion list after Adames was hit with a foul ball on Friday night vs the Giants. The team also recalled RHP Jake Cousins from Triple-A Nashville.
To see a story like Monasterio a player who you wouldn’t be able to name before the season started, being able to break through with his first major league hit and having the occasion happen on his birthday is a special moment for Monasterio and his family.
First MLB hit and it’s his birthday 🥳#ThisIsMyCrew | @ajmonasterio16 pic.twitter.com/jqy8Qn8WZh
