The Milwaukee Brewers announced on Tuesday that they have placed RHP Brandon Woodruff on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation retroactive to April 8. In a corresponding move, Milwaukee has recalled RHP Janson Junk from Triple-A Nashville.
Woodruff in his last start against the St. Louis Cardinals, went five innings, allowed four hits, struck out four and only walked two. This IL stint according to Manager Craig Counsell is precautionary as Woodruff wasn’t recovering as quickly from his last start so Milwaukee decided to be cautious and put him on the IL.
With this move, it is expected that Janson Junk will make a spot start or two in Woodruff’s turn in the rotation.
Junk was acquired from the Angels as part of the Hunter Renfroe deal last offseason.
Junk in two games for Triple-A Nashville had a 1-0 record with a 0.90 ERA, and seven strikeouts in 10 innings pitched.
Brandon Woodruff is headed to the injured list with shoulder inflammation. He wasn’t recovering as he hoped from his last start and the Brewers opted to go cautious with an IL stint.
The Brewers are hoping it will be a minimum stay.
