This player isn’t known in most MLB circles, and won’t be a guy who gets talked about most nights but as Peter Brand played by Jonah Hill in Moneyball said to Billy Beane and a roomful of scouts “He gets on base.”
Meet Owen Miller who was acquired from the Cleveland Guardians on December 24, 2022, for a player to be named later. Miller a hometown guy, is batting .346, with four home runs, 11 RBIs, and 36 hits in 104 ABs for the Brewers.
When Matt Arnold was promoted to general manager in October, he constructed a roster that consisted of guys who are known for getting on base. Miller in 130 plate appearances for the Guardians last year, had 103 hits and 51 RBIs. Miller so far has 178 hits and 80 RBIs since he was called up in the 2021 season.
Miller in 34 games played, has only struck out 16 times which shows his ability to put the ball in play.
Miller has been an invaluable piece for the Brewers, and the best under-the-radar move that Matt Arnold made this offseason.
