Aaron Rodgers has not yet made a decision on whether or not he will play football in 2023. If he does, the oddsmakers do not favor him returning to the Green Bay Packers. In fact, there are two teams currently with better odds than the Packers, who drafted Rodgers in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft as the heir-apparent to Brett Favre.
When the Packers drafted Jordan Love in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, it signaled (many believe) the beginning of the end of Rodgers’ tenure in Green Bay. Now that Love has sat behind Rodgers for three years (the same amount of time Rodgers sat behind Favre), many believe the time has come to move on.
The Odds Are Narrowing, but the Las Vegas Raiders Are Favored to Get Aaron Rodgers

While the Green Bay Packers began their offseason as the clear-cut favorites to retain Aaron Rodgers, much has changed since then. The New York Jets have been public about their willingness to overpay for the future Hall of Fame quarterback. Additionally, Rodgers’ former teammate Davante Adams was recruiting Rodgers to Las Vegas during the Pebble Beach Pro Am. Ever since that golf event, which Rodgers won, the Raiders have become sportsbooks’ favorite team to have the four-time MVP under center in 2023.
The most recent updated odds from DraftKings, however, show that the gap is narrowing:
- Las Vegas Raiders: -200
- New York Jets: +150
- Green Bay Packers: +250
- Indianapolis Colts: +1500
- Washington Commanders: +1800
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers: +2000
- Tennessee Titans: +2200
- San Francisco 49ers: +2200
- New England Patriots: +2500
- Carolina Panthers: +3000
All other NFL teams have +5000 or worse odds to attaining Rodgers. As seen above, it is clearly a three-team race (at least to oddsmakers) between the Raiders, Jets, and Packers.
Notable movement on the top-ten list of teams likely to have Rodgers next season include the Miami Dolphins falling outside of that list. At one point, the Dolphins were given +1000 odds of attaining Rodgers. However, once Tua Tagovailoa cleared concussion protocol, their odds dropped to +5000.
Another interesting movement on the top-ten list is that of the Indianapolis Colts. They have just hired Shane Steichen as their new head coach and have not shown any interest Rodgers. However, the odds may come from the fact that the Colts have signed a veteran quarterback in each of the past three seasons (Phillip Rivers, 2020; Carson Wentz, 2021; Matt Ryan, 2022).
