The Packers seemed to figure things out vs. the Lions on Monday Night, specificaly in the second half. However, Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers will be the Packers’ first true test after the rough outing against New Orleans. The 49ers open as three and a half point favorites at home against the Packers. The Packers enter as underdogs but there are clear ways they can walk away Sunday nght with a win.

Getting Hot and Motivated
The Packers are coming out after dominating the Lions. The Packers’ offensive superstars seemed to get a wake up call after their week one performance. Aaron Rodgers looked like the MVP, Aaron Jones had four touchdowns, and Davante Adams surpassed 100 yards. All three stars seemed to find their rhythm last week and will look to continue their dominance. Last year the Packers stars had their way in Sn Francisco and will look to repeat this year.

The Packers recieved a lot of criticism after their week one loss, and went into put up or shut up mode. The team slogan quickly became “it’s just one game.” They went out and proved that it was true after a classic beating of the Lions. However, the mantra remains the same. Beating the Lions was still only one game. There’s 15 games left to play and eac week the Packers will continue to prove everyone doubting them wrong.
Aaron Rodgers post game press conferance game some insight into what he thought about going into what felt like a prove it game.
“I just think people like to say a lot of bulls—, and it’s nice to come back in here after a game like that,” Rodgers said. ” … I think that there’s even more now than when I started playing. There’s so many overreactions that happen on a week-to-week basis. So it’s nice to come out, have a good performance and get the trolls off our back for at least a week.”
The Packers’ quarerback clearky heard the criticism and looks to be on a mission to quiet the doubters.
Injuries
Both teams come into the matchup a little banged up, but San Fancisco looks to be on the worse end of things. To be specific, the 49ers are hurting in the running game specifically. The teams leading rusher and his back up both are trending towards missing the Sunday Night game. Elijah Mitchell and JaMycal Hastey are dealing with shoulder and ankle injuries respectively. Meanwhile rookie running back Trey Sermon is not looking likely to play dealing with a concussion. The Packers did a good job against the run last week, and will have a chance to repeat this week against a weakend running back group.
Knowing Themselves
On Monday night the Packers found out what works for them on both sides of the ball. Matt LaFleur called a great game on the offensive side, and worked with Joe Barry to help the defense succeed. On the offensive side of the ball Aaron Rodgers missed some opportunities to Marquez Valdes-Scantling or else the score would’ve been even more lop sided. However, the Packers run game came out firing and it allowed the passing attack to open up. The Packers have to get Aaron Jones involved early on the ground so that they can attack the 49ers with play action and shot plays.
On defene the Packers need to forget the first six quarters of football they played this season. The second half of Detroit showed what the Packers are good at on defense. Even if it was against Detroit, they looked like a different team in the second half. Joe Barry brough more pressure resulting in an interception and plenty of rushed throws. Another thing that chnaged, perhaps the most important, was Eric Stokes involvement. Eric Stokes was phenomenal in man to man coverage. This is an area where Kevin King was struggling, but Stokes shined on Monday Night. Fans should expect to see more Eric Stokes on Sunday Night.
