Wisconsin football has a long tradition of winning. The Badgers seem to always be in the mix in the Big Ten no matter the year. What many do not realize is exactly how much winning Wisconsin has done in the past 20 years. With another winning season this year, Wisconsin football is keeping this 20-year streak alive.

Wisconsin Keeps 20-Year Streak Alive
The Badgers have not had a losing season in a very long time. In fact, they have the longest streak in the Big Ten for winning seasons. You have to go all the way back to 2001 to find the last time the Wisconsin Badgers had a losing season (excluding the 2020 Covid season). This is by far the longest streak in the Big Ten. Penn State hasn’t had one since 2004 and the next closest is Ohio State in 2011. Wisconsin has clearly built a foundation of excellence in its program.
Expect This Streak To Continue
I would not expect this streak to be broken anytime soon. The hiring of Luke Fickell means the Badgers are going to be in the mix for Big Ten titles on a yearly basis. In this week alone, Fickell has been able to attract big-name recruits to the program. Many more are visiting this weekend and could sign soon. Outside of recruiting, Fickell has shown the ability to develop players and lead a team to the College Football Playoff. This streak of winning seasons has the potential to get to historic levels.
If there was a year for Wisconsin football to break the 20-year streak of winning, this would’ve been it. However, Jim Leonhard made sure that did not happen. After taking over for Paul Chryst, he led the team to a 6-6 season which is considered a winning record. The Badgers look to bounce back next year and we will get the first look at Fickell’s coaching in the upcoming bowl game.
