The Wisconsin football team has announced that their starting linebacker has returned from an 11-day suspension following the completion of an investigation.
Jordan Turner, a redshirt Junior from Michigan, was stopped last month and received an OWI. Turner was subsequently suspended by Athletic Director Chris McIntosh until the school could conduct a proper investigation into the situation. Turner was not allowed to meet with any players, staff, or participate in anything team related during his suspension. Now, Turner will be a full participant once again moving forward.

Originally when the linebacker was handed an indefinite suspension, many thought the talented player would not be available for the start of the season. However, it appears as though that will not be the case since Turner has joined the team again and jumped back into practice. McIntosh had stated before that he did not know how long the suspension would be due to the need for an investigation.
The linebacker violated the University of Wisconsin Department of Athletics’ student-athlete discipline policy with his traffic stop which warranted the original suspension.
Turner received an OWI citation during a traffic stop last month along with other traffic violations. Directly after the suspension was announced, Turner posted a long apology to Twitter detailing his regret and remorse for the situation. While Turner did not go into detail about the event, since a longer suspension was not handed down the event was likely a typical stop. At this time, Turner will not face any other discipline for the event nor will he have to complete anything for the school.

This past season, Turner recorded 68 tackles, five tackles for loss, and two sacks as he emerged as a defensive leader. Upon the initial suspension, the Badgers felt as though they would need to fill a serious hole in their defense. Luckily Turner is back with the team and ready to make an impact in practice for the Wisconsin Badgers football team.
In just the few hours that the news has been out, the linebacker has already been in-contact with the staff and his teammates. The Wisconsin football team is going to heavily rely on Turner during this upcoming season due to his ability and veteran leadership. The Badgers are going to need someone to step-up and fill the shoes of vocal leader Nick Herbig, and all eyes have been on Turner. After the suspension, many were worried the Wisconsin football staff would have to search for the next man up.
However, Turner is back and ready to make a difference following his minor mistake. The veteran linebacker has owned up and taken accountability for his actions.
