The Wisconsin football team will have a new-look staff take the field for this upcoming 2023 season. Under the guidance of Head Coach Luke Fickell, the team has already improved in multiple ways.

One of the biggest, and most beneficial, hirings that the Wisconsin football staff had was perhaps the one that went under-the-radar the most. Co-Defensive Coordinator and safeties coach Colin Hitschler has been a gem for Fickell and the Badgers, but just how did Hitschler solidify himself as a top assistant?

When the Wisconsin football staff was formed, it was clear that recruiting would be a priority. However, what was unclear at the time was just who would be pulling the recruiting strings. As the Badgers continue to put together a stellar 2024 class, assistant Colin Hitschler has been receiving plenty of praise for his hard-work. Hitschler has been one of the most efficient recruiters in the nation since joining the Wisconsin football staff. Since January, Hitschler has been credited with 9 commitments in the 2024 recruiting class.

Clearly, recruiting has been a team effort for the Badgers, but Hitschler has found his stride as of late landing massive commitments. The latest for Hitschler is the commitment of four-star running back and top Badgers’ recruit, Dilin Jones. Hitschler shocked many as he hauled in one of the top running backs in the 2024 class.

The New Jersey native, Hitschler, is entering his fourth year working with Fickell after joining his Bearcats’ staff previously. Hitschler has been a key recruiter for Fickell for quite some time now, and his success is starting to wear off on the Badgers. Hitschler is also responsible for the commitments of Kevin Heywood, Omilio Agard, Raphael Dunn, and many more. The safeties coach is currently the top recruiter for the Badgers in terms of commitments he is responsible for.

As of late, it seems as though the Wisconsin staff gives their toughest assignments to Hitschler. Not every coach has the ability to recruit each player. Coach Fickell and his other staff members strategically choose who will become the contact for which recruit. Lately, Hitschler has been working with the top recruiting targets for the Badgers.

The Wisconsin football team should continue to have recruiting success with Colin Hitschler pulling the strings.
